Proper Noun / Technical Term · /lɪb juː viː/

Definition
An open-source C library that provides asynchronous I/O, event loop, timers, threads, and cross-platform system abstractions. It is the engine powering Node.js's non-blocking architecture.
Origin
Created in 2011 by Ben Noordhuis and Bert Belder as part of the Node.js project. The name combines "lib" (library) + "uv" (short for unicorn velociraptor — a playful internal codename). Later extracted as a standalone reusable library.
