A person is a human being regarded as an individual — a single entity with their own identity, consciousness, rights, and agency. Person is one of the most fundamental words in English, operating across law, grammar, philosophy, ethics, and technology.
Origin
The word derives from Latin persona, originally meaning the mask worn by an actor in ancient theatre — the face through which the character spoke. Persona became the role, then the individual playing it, and finally any individual human being. The same Latin word entered Christian theology to describe the three persons of the Trinity.

Act as a UX design consultant. Explain what a user persona is in product design and software development. How do I create a realistic person profile for my Replit app's target user — what information should it include, how do I base it on real data rather than assumptions, and how does it improve my design decisions?
Explain grammatical person in programming and API design — specifically first person versus third person in natural language interfaces, chatbot prompts, and documentation. How should I decide whether my Replit chatbot or documentation speaks in first person or refers to the user in third person?
Act as a privacy and compliance advisor. Explain what personal data means under GDPR. If my Replit-hosted web app collects any information that can identify a person — name, email, IP address, cookies — what legal obligations do I have, and what are the minimum technical safeguards I must implement?
Explain the concept of a service account versus a real person account in cloud platforms and APIs. When should I use a service account for my Replit-deployed app to authenticate with Google APIs, GitHub, or AWS, and what security practices should I follow to protect service account credentials?
I am building an AI assistant on Replit. Explain how to design the AI persona — its personality, tone, and first-person voice — so that it communicates helpfully and clearly. What prompt engineering techniques help establish a consistent persona for a chatbot, and how do I prevent it from breaking character or behaving inconsistently across conversations?
